GMAWD SEPTAGE TREATMENT PLANT GMA, CAVITE – “The fulfillment of one of our dreams in the (GMAWD) General Mariano Alvarez Water District, itong naitayo nating Septage Treatment Plant” remarked by Atty. Iluminada Vaflor-Fabroa during the inauguration day of GMAWD Septage Treatment Plant (GMAWD-SpTP). November 18, 2020, marked history in the humble town of General Mariano Alvarez, Cavite as the very first Septage Treatment Plant in the province of Cavite was inaugurated. Everyone who had attended may all agree that the feeling of exhilaration and fulfillment were present early morning of the said day, that finally, GMAWD-SpTP will be operational days after this event.

During the event, DENR USEC for Solid Waste Management and Local Government Unit Benny D. Antiporda accentuated the importance of having a septage treatment plant, on his speech he said “Kung walang ganito ang bawat lugar, ang bawat ilog, ang bawat sapa, leading towards Manila Bay, wala pong kwenta ang ginagawa natin. Kaya again maraming salamat sa malasakit nyo sa taumbayan.”  Enkindled by the hopes and dream to have clean and sustainable water and water supply in the town of GMA, GMA Water District, spearheaded by the Board of Directors and GM Juliet M. Nacita, and the Local Government Unit of GMA, headed by Hon. Mayor Walter D. Echevarria Jr., had worked throughout to make this program (SpTP) achievable. “Hindi lang tayo magpapadaloy ng malinis at sapat na tubig kundi pangangalagaan din natin ang waste water…ginamit natin, kailangan ibalik natin sa kalikasan ng malinis din.” GM Nacita emphasized during her gratitude speech afterward encouraging all her colleagues (General Managers from different Water Districts in Cavite) to have their SpTPs as well.

The inauguration rites started with a short Inaugural Mass and blessing lead by Rev. Fr. Dionisio Vargas Palingping, and it was followed by the ribbon-cutting. Brgy. Chairman of Brgy. Francisco De Castro Hon. Franklin Alcantara, GMAWD Board of Director Chairwoman Atty. Iluminada Vaflor-Fabroa gave their speeches, Hon. Mayor Walter D. Echevarria Jr. expressed his message through an AVP, GM Juliet M. Nacita followed by giving an overview of the septage treatment plant project, the keynote speaker DENR USEC Benny D. Antiporda was introduced by BOD Engr. Michael I. Torres before he had given his speech, BOD Engr. Mullet and CAWD President GM Bonifacio Dela Cruz also had given their speeches. A ceremonial toast by Atty. Vaflor-Fabroa, GM Nacita, Acting Mayor Hon. Maricel E. Torres, Engr. Torres and Attended by all the notable persons of GMA Water District (GMAWD), Local Government Units of GMA (GMA LGU), Department of Energy and Natural Resources.
